Writing articles is important to your website growth because the more you write the more traffic you get. However, it's not quite that simple. Your articles must be written in a specific way to attract targeted traffic related to each of your article topics. Not only that, writing quality articles will give you creditability with the search engines. This is why I advise my clients to create their website theme around a subject they are experienced doing or know something about.

If it's not possible to do this, then the next best thing is to choose a theme that you can be interested in learning about because you will have to research material for fresh and informative articles. So here I'll share a few tips that have helped me get first page ranking on my major website pages where there is much competition. Keep in mind, however, that one article is not going to have that much of an impact upon your website credibility or ranking with the search engines. It's a cumulative affect of multiple articles built around your website theme and other related topics to your theme.

• Know your topic. As I've already mentioned, you must either know your topic or theme or do research to create great content that delivers honest, factual and well-written articles.
• Keep your keywords specific and related to your theme. Doing this will build upon your previous articles and will help your writing to flow without longs gaps in your writing progress. Unless you're writing an article with many facts and images, you will want to write an article within a short time rather than taking hours.
  
• Keep most of your articles within a minimum of 400 words up to a maximum of 600 words. I can tell the size of my articles from experience, but if you're not sure, use your "word count" on your Word program or HTML editor found within the "tools tab."
  
• Do a little research on the Internet if needed to understand your topic better and to relate to any problems or questions people might have about your topic. This will help you write an updated and informative article with direction and purpose. It's also a great way to keep your mind stimulated with the topic.
  
• When you write, keep it simple. Don't try to intellectualize your article because many people may get bored or not relate to your information well, even if you have a great topic. Write for everyone, not just a few. Otherwise, you may lose a visitor forever.
  
• If you're bad at spelling like I am, make sure to use a program that will correct your spelling as you go. This saves a great deal of time.
  
• My last quick article writing tip is to be yourself. Don't try to sound like someone else. Using your own words will make your thoughts flow better and your writing more fluid. And not wanting to contradict myself, if you are used to writing in an intellectual manner, be yourself, but also give thought to your audience and the people you wish to reach. Do your best to be yourself and yet relate to your visitors.

In conclusion, don't complicate your article. All you're really doing is making more work for yourself and possibly confusing the reader.  And when referencing the Internet for article information, never copy another person's article.  This is plagiarism and can get your website banned from the Internet.  Google has a means of detecting piracy of site content, so be original.  This is what will make your site stand out from your competition.  And besides, it's just plain honest. 

Also, know what you're talking about. Do not second-guess yourself. Be well informed and then ready and willing to share what you know. People will appreciate your honesty and your ability to put much-needed information into simple terms they can understand.
